Missouri Botanical Garden Located in
St. Louis, it is one of the oldest botanical gardens in the U.S. The Garden stands out
because of its displays, its architectural heritage, and its research.
Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh The Royal
Botanic Garden Edinburgh was founded in the 17th century on an area the size of a tennis
court. It now extends to 31 hectares (at Inverleith in Edinburgh).
New York Botanical Garden The New York Botanical Garden
is one of the foremost public gardens in America and a National Historic Landmark. It has
some of the most beautiful natural terrain of any botanical garden in the world, with
dramatic rock outcroppings, a river and cascading waterfall, undulating hills, wetlands,
ponds and 40 acres of historic, uncut forest.
Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew: The Royal
Botanic Gardens, Kew, are situated on the banks of the River Thames between Richmond and
Kew in south west London. They consist mainly of two estates, the Richmond Estate and Kew
Estate, which once belonged to the Royal Family.
Australian National Botanic Gardens The
Australian National Botanic Gardens in Canberra maintains a scientific collection of
native plants from all parts of Australia. The plants are displayed for the enjoyment and
education of visitors and are used for research into plant classification and biology. A
herbarium of preserved plant specimens is closely associated with the living collection .
The Gardens also cultivates plants threatened in the wild. This helps protect them against
extinction and provides information which might assist re-introduction to their natural
habitat.
San Antonio Botanical Gardens The thirty-three acres of
the San Antonio Botanical Gardens form a living museum of plant life, labeled and
displayed for public appreciation. The horticultural facility features traditional formal
gardens, native Texas plants and indoor collections emph asizing exotic New World flora as
well as other interesting tropical plants.
